Winter GabFest 2007

January 20 GabFest

Our January meeting was a great success with our four raffles bringing in a total of $217.00, which was donated on the EastEnders night of Festival on February 18th.  Dave mentioned us on the second break.  The $217.00 raised is nearly equivalent to a high-end donation of one person.  That's an excellent contribution for our smaller group.

After meeting, greeting and ordering our meal from Madison's menu, the meeting began with the raffles to help raise funds for UNC-TV's 2007 Festival - which was the theme of our cake and goody bags.  The first raffle of the EastEnders 1989 Television Special Book was won by Maggie.  The "Sonia Shirt" was won by Melanie P. (who was unable to join us, but has since received her prize by mail).  The Red Postbox Teapot was won by Judy K.   Our last minute raffle, the "Diana" book, a beautiful hardbound book about the Princess of Wales, donated by our presidents of the Charlotte Queen City Vickers group, Mel and Mel, was won by Gail.

After a discussion of the festival details, we took photos of the group, and enjoyed our traditional cake.  The pub quiz was won by our own Secretary, Jane.  The gift was a hard-to-find EastEnders (Annie Rowe ceramic) Teapot.

The date of our next meeting was announced as April 21st and the meeting ended.
