Summer GabFest 2006
Shonni, our president
Well, another fun gathering has come and gone. We had a great meeting with two new visitors - one who didn't know about the event until her arrival, Mae, who was surprised by her daughter Cyndee! It was wonderful to have new members and to meet fellow fanatics! We began with an introduction of Mae and Cyndee and determined that Mae has been watching for a long time - since '87 or '88. I would call her "well seasoned" on EastEnd gossip! We then discussed postponing the Auction to our October meeting and possibly changing it to a "Raffle", so that we might collect more money for the next UNC-TV festival. With the recent droppings of EastEnders from other areas, we agreed it's vital to collect and donate as much as we are able to in North Carolina.Next, we ordered from the wonderfully British inspired menu at Madison's! The food was wonderful, as usual! We had a WORDSEARCH of EastEnders characters last names from the past. We quizzed each other to try to remember who all the names belonged to and that stirred some brain cells not recently in use. The WORDSEARCH was won by Jennifer. Her gift was a charming Queen Victoria mug and specialty teas. After our meal, we took our group shots on Madison's porch in the shadows of the recent rain. The rain kept the weather slightly cooler than a usual July day, and it was a nice change!Melanie then discussed the upcoming meeting of the Charlotte Queen City Vickers to be held in Concord. It is going to be a costume function and there will be more to come in your mail soon!We had our ceremonial EastEnders cake and then our traditional PUB QUIZ. Our winner was Jennifer, who graciously donated the prize back to the group for the upcoming Raffle. Thank you, Jenn! I'm sure it will bring some "hefty" dosh!It was mentioned that some members have not been receiving their email. Those not receiving our updated, please send your current email address to wncprez@aol.com to update our records. Include your name and address in your email.Don't forget our next meeting is October 21st, and Charlotte (Concord) will hold their costume meeting in September. We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to attend.Shonni
