Spring GabFest 2007
It was a beautiful, warm day for our Spring meeting in the Black Mountain area. We received a nice surprise upon arrival. Madison's has updated their exterior adding a beautiful enclosed front sunroom/porch area. It will give visitors a chance to enjoy all types of weather from their beautifully accommodated inn.
We had three new visitors join us. Deborah from Fayetteville heard about our group during Festival this February and made the statewide trek to our group for the day's festivities. Victoria saw our web site online and had written to me asking to attend. We were pleased to have her join us on Saturday - and talk about a trek - she came all the way from Ohio! Longtime viewer, Gail, also joined us, and I apologize, but I failed to get Gail's information. If you see this, please email me at: wncprez@aol.com, so I can update your information for future invitations. It was so nice to have three new visitors and we hope to see you all again someday!
After visiting and ordering from the "British" inspired menu at Madison's, we started our first quiz - a WORDSEARCH titled "The World of Sharon Watts." Our winner (who channeled Sharon at their costume party for the Charlotte Queen City Vickers this past September) was our very own Melanie (president of the Charlotte Vickers). Her prize was the DVD "Visions of England."
Next, we gathered for groups photos, enjoyed our cake and took the quarterly Pub Quiz. Our winner was our visitor Gail. The prize was a framed, rare group photo from the 1989 cast of EastEnders in a relaxed pose in front of the pre-red Queen Victoria Pub.
As always, it was a fun day and great fellowship! We hope you will consider joining us for our next meeting!
