Spring GabFest 2001

The WNC EastEnders Fanatics Spring Gabfest 2001 was a blast! We had nineteen Fanatics in attendance. We had two visitors, Stasi and Mary, and welcomed our newest member, April. We hope to see you all again at Summer GabFest! One of the many highlights of the afternoon included a very special video direct from England! Chris J. Watson, who maintains his very own EE website (See "Related EastEnders Sites."), kindly put together clips from past episodes featuring the Frank and Pat Story from 1987 to 1995. It was really great to view both past and present characters and see how Frank and Pat have developed over the years --- warts and all! The Pub Quiz was a bit tougher this time. Martha DID win --- as she does every other time we play! --- and earned herself Martine McCutcheon's CD "Wishing." Want to win the next one? Make sure you pay close attention to the current PBS episodes. (I take notes when I watch the show; that's where the quizzes come from.) Goodies abounded at this gathering.... Cadbury chocolates and orange and raspberry confections lined the tables at Damon's. And the bakery cake featured Jane Hewitt's artwork of the Queen Vic Pub. --- It was scrumptious as well as beautiful; I hated to cut into it! We discussed having a future meeting at the Asheville Brew Pub. There, we would be able to view EastEnders on a cinema screen. (Grant and Phil dancing to "Kung Fu Fighting" would be my choice!) Other topics of discussion included a group trip to the UK sometime in the not-too-distant future. (If you are interested, please be sure to e-mail me so we can begin work on this project.) Jennifer and I had big news of our own.... We are attending the EE luncheon in New York City on May 5th! We are very exited and look forward to meeting all the EastEnders fanatics from up North! (Rest assured, we will take plenty of pictures and post them on the website soon!)
