The Western North Carolina EastEnders Fanatics met on Saturday, April 8th at 1 p.m. for Spring GabFest 2000. This was the ninth meeting of the WNC fans. The group reserved the private room at Damon's on Tunnel Road in Asheville. Regular members, including Jennifer Allen, Bill Ammons, Ray and Donna Bodie, Dee Brennan, Martha Covington, John Fragale, Jane Hewitt, Anne Jones, Patti Lambert, Rebecca Morrison, Melissa Munnell, Judy Purdee, Glennie Sewell, and Vikki Whiston, were happy to welcome three new participants: Betty Elliott, Phyllis Metcalf, and Terry Stanberry!

After collecting dues and making introductions, an important announcement was made: Jennifer Allen, who is pursuing a new career opportunity, appealed to the group for someone to assume the duties of club president. (A new officer will be announced at Summer GabFest 2000.)

Once announcements were over, the EastEnders Trivia Quiz was taken. Our winner was Dee Brennan with 15 correct answers! Dee received a lovely silver English tea tin and an EastEnders tote bag.

After the quiz, Melissa Munnell made a very impressive presentation of the WNC Fanatics' EastEnders cast photo and autograph scrapbook! She had been working on it since Winter GabFest in January, and managed to collect well over 40 autographs, notes, pictures, and the like. --- She even received a script from actor Des Coleman, who plays "Lenny!"

As lunch was served, the first episode of EastEnders and "EastEnders: The First 15 Years" were viewed. As ever, a bakery cake featuring the river Thames was provided for dessert. The meeting ended at 3:45 p.m.
