It couldn't have been a more beautiful
day to have a Gabfest meeting in the glorious North Carolina
mountains! The colors were at their peek and the weather was
cool, but comfortable. Madison Inn was again
the hosts of our 2006 October Gabfest. The fireplace greeted
us with warmth (just ask Donna <grin>), and the atmosphere was
perfect.
We were pleased to have a new member join us -
Melanie. We also had our official quiz mistress,
Noell, with us to administer the Pub Quiz. The Manuel's Four
also traveled a great distance to be with us, which was an added
delight!
After our new member was introduced and returning members greeted, we
discussed the items for the UNC-TV raffle and had a contest for the
best limerick. This idea was taken from a recent Charlotte
meeting and was a lot of fun. We were all asked to write a
limerick about our favorite "Dot." The winner was
Phyllis, whose limerick you can see by clicking
here (so take a peek). Phyllis' gift was a vintage EastEnders map of Albert Square and a "British Phrasebook."
We had another great menu to choose from and a great staff to assist us
at Madison Inn. Our server, Craig, we were to learn, is also a
fan of EastEnders and was asked to be our co-judge of the
limerick contest.
Photos were taken after the meal and our Pub Quiz followed
our ceremonial cake. The winner of the Pub Quiz was another new
and returning member, Mae, who won an "Essential EastEnders Script -
Model for Writing" book. This book contains five of the most
popular shows in script form.
We hope you will consider joining us for our next meeting on January 20, 2007.
